Introducing our Inaugural 2012 Eco Arts Awards Songwriting Finalists! We invite you to listen to their songs! Our A&R record exec's will chose the winner using score sheets, and will score one to ten in five criteria: theme, lyrics, melody/arrangement, originality, and overall likeability. the Theme criteria has a double numerical value. We want to stress however that, everyone who entered this competition is a winner, in that they have exhibited true talent and appreciation for our home. It is Eco Arts Awards primary mission to encourage more artists to use their creativity to express their thoughts about the ecology of earth. We know that artist's have an important role to play in placing the wellbeing of our planet in the forefront of our minds. We ask that you join us in helping to make this a top of mind subject with more and more people. We are a a new competition that is piloted on the fuel of ideals, hopes and dreams for a brighter future for our children's, children, children!

This Planet / Erin Hill is an American harpist, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and actress. Her musical performances have ranged from pop, psychedelic, and science fiction to kids music, opera, and Celtic. Hill’s 2009 album with her Celtic group hit #1 on the Billboard World Music Chart. As an actress, she’s appeared on Broadway, film, and television, most notably as the Pretty White Girl on Comedy Central’s Chappelle’s Show. She is an actor, composer and screenwriter on the film Clear Blue Tuesday. |

Let The Rainforest Grow /Joe Curtis is a restless singer-songwriter traveler... born in the Appalachia’s of West Virginia, south to Louisiana bayou’s, across the country to the California deserts... hunkerin' down and raisin' a family in Tennessee. Joe has songs that stretch the boundaries, but are rooted in Americana. His songs have appeared in film and television including three seasons of "Friday Night Lights". |

Water Girl /Kira Bursky has been a filmmaker since 2006. In August 2011, Kira won both the Best Director and Best Sound Design awards for her film, "Let It Go", at the 48 Hour Film Project in Asheville, North Carolina. From 2010 through 2011, Kira attended the Carolina Film Institute where she studied with Brad Hoover. Accepted this school year at the prestigious Interlochen Academy of the Arts, an international high school for art students, Kira is a sophomore in the school's Motion Picture Arts program. |

Hold You In A Circle / Kym Pittman's songs and music are a deep expression of place and ecological connection. They inspire an enlivened sense of presence and emotional recognition of human experience and wild landscape -"a uniquely female, Australian perspective brimming with heart, spirit, experience and a love of country". In her home town of Bellingen NSW, Kym is founder of the Bellingen Wilderness Youth Theatre - a unique rite of passage for young people, integrating wilderness treks with theatre and music to help teenagers develop a sense of place and belonging. |

Rock Your Soul / Mc Amani is best known for her urban dance vocals and unmistakable style with a new organic soul/hip-hop direction. Amani is backed by an All Star line up of some of Perth’s most talented musicians, featuring Alex Borthwick (The Crux) on guitar, John Brown (The Typhoons / Simon Kelly Band) on bass and Bronton Ainsworth on drums. The Amani Consort draws influence from the likes of The Roots, Erykah Badu and D'Angelo to name but a few. With a focus on deep groove and conscious lyrics. The Amani Consort are creating a new progressive funk sound. |

Uulia / Nive Neilsen - uulia An Greenlandic indie pop singer. The first concert she ever played was for the queen of Denmark on national television; she acted in the Hollywood movie The New World starring Colin Farrell; and she actually is Inuit — well, Inuk — an indigenous Greenlander. She plays a little red ukulele in a band called the Deer Children with her boyfriend, multi-instrumentalist “Cowboy Jan.” She writes songs about love and reindeer and forgetting to make coffee. There's social commentary too, in between kazoo solos and wild drums. She won an IMA independent music award in the US, worked with Tchad Blake, Howe Gelb and John Parish and friends from such indie royalty outfits as The Black Keys and Wolf Parade. |

Intersado /La Otrabana - Intersado - (the other band) is a collective project originally created by Venezuelans living outside their country (Madison, WI and Galicia, Spain) to share their Venezuelan-folk inspired music that portrays the idiosyncrasy of their vibrant country in a very fresh and optimistic way. |

Blood Stained / Simona Radu A singer/songwriter from Romania. She was born in Drobeta Turnu Severin, along with a twin sister. It was obvious from the early years that she loved singing, and her family members recall her saying she’ll be a singer when she grows up. She took singing lessons at the Bucharest School of Arts and started writing songs. After several collaborations with some of the most successful Romanian pop/rock bands, Simona Radu decided it was time to release her first solo album, entitled “A Million Others Like Me”. The ecology-themed “Blood Stained” is the opening track of the album. |

Up In Flames / Eastern Sunz provides a fresh take on political, social, and environmental issues. Courage and TravisT offer a powerful alternative to hip-hop's status quo by bringing focus to a wide variety of topics under the guise of identifiable and entertaining music, which has been featured in award winning documentaries and on national television. They successfully raise important questions regarding the current condition of the world without alienating the casual listener. |

The Commune /Timothy Sellers writes and records indie pop songs in Los Angeles under the musical moniker Artichoke. Some of Artichoke's albums could be at the forefront of a "Songipedia" project. There is a complete alphabet of indie rock songs about scientists, as many fans discovered in the New York Times science section a few years ago. There is another alphabet of kids songs about animals, which comes with an illustrated songbook for families enthusiastic about campfire edutainment. There is a recent record called "Bees." Perhaps you can guess this song cycle's central theme? Fans of the Pixies, the Beatles, and They Might Be Giants are often pleased to discover these and other Artichoke records. |
